How to play
2 players. Each colony has 15 beetles on a log of 24 grooves; gold runs one way, blue the other, and each colony's last six grooves are its home. The first colony to take all its beetles off the end of the log wins.
A turn
- Two dice roll by themselves. Each die moves one beetle forward by its number; a double moves four times.
- A beetle cannot land where two or more beetles of the other colony stand. Landing on a lone beetle of the other colony knocks it onto the bark: it must come back in from the start before its colony moves anything else.
- Use as many dice as you can, and the higher one when only one can be used. With no move, the roll is lost.
- Once all 15 beetles of a colony are home, they may leave the log: with the exact number, or with a higher one from the farthest groove still holding beetles.
